What Is Acupuncture?
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a technique of inserting and manipulating needles into "acupuncture points" on the body with the goal of re-establishing health and wellbeing.Originating in China thousands of years ago, it is the oldest continuously practiced medical system in the world. In the United States, Acupuncture has been available since 1972. It is used by nearly one-third of the world as a primary health care system and many more as an adjunct therapy. The fundamental principles of Acupuncture are similar to those in Naturopathic Medicine, and are to treat the person as an integrated whole in body, mind and spirit; and to direct treatment at the underlying cause of a patient’s illness, rather than treating the symptomatic expression.
